On Sunday March 30th the Baptist community in Point Fortin celebrated their freedom to worship in Trinidad & Tobago with a March through the main streets leading to the Festival Square in Mahaica. The celebration which is now observed with a national public holiday was organized by the St. Michael’s Shrine and coordinated by Ann Marie Bailey-Cave….

Staff members at the Point Fortin Branch of Republic Bank displayed the Divali spirit as they wore traditional East Indian garb on the eve of the festival of lights which signifies the victory of good over evil or light over darkness.

Yolandra John of Warden road, Point Fortin won the Miss Tourism T&T 2007 title at a pageant held on August 25, at La Hoya Auditorium, Eastern Credit Union, St. Josesph .Yolandra began modelling at age 11, allso won the special prize of Miss Physique and Best Swimwear.In 2002 she a finalist in Miss Trinidad and Tobago Miss World pageant. In 2004 she won the Miss Emerge Model title and allso the Trinidad and Tobago leg of the Caribbean Super Model. At the finals held in Kingston, Jamaica she was voted one of the Top 5 Caribbean Super models.
