JACKASS OF THE DECADE
|
|
| Senator Wade Mark |
Sometimes I wonder why we in Trinidad & Tobago are not progressing in the manner we ought to, given the abundance of natural and other resources at our disposal. Reading the daily newspaper on Republic Day made me realize that we may be moving nowhere at warp speed.
While trying to understand the ramifications of the 2008/2009 Budget presentation made two days before and coming to terms with the fact that I now have to pay more for premium gasoline and if I choose to purchase a new vehicle I will have to endure a substantial price increase, I expected that those entrusted to effectively defend us will really articulate the sentiments shared by the citizens to those in Government.
However, two days after the budget presentation I am reading on the daily news that opposition Senator Wade Mark alleging that there is Video Tape somewhere showing the Chairman of UDECOTT receiving $27 Million in bribe money (Read the article). Now I am certain that such video will never surface since this particular Senator has made numerous similar allegations in the past without ever producing and evidence. But even more than that is the fact that here he is saying $27 Million in Cash. Yea right —- Cash —- $27 Million.
In a time when we should be serious about treating with the global economic state of affairs and the issue of crime, here we have these non substantiated accusations which seem to be just a waste of time.
The reason why this upsets me is because of the individual who seem to have an agenda to simply speak a bag of garbage whenever he has the opportunity to do it. Wasting senate time! In the past whenever he made his claims he never can back it up and always hide under the cloak of parliamentary privileges and I am quite sure this is another instance.
I believe it’s about time that we let these time wasters know how we feel about their actions and with this in mind I will like to announce Senator Wade Mark as JACKASS OF THE DECADE.

I am not too sure what to make of the content of your RANT, but i do know that your are being very disrespectful to the man we call Wade Mark.
To start with, there is no need for the name calling in this RANT. All you had to do was to put forward your argument based on the facts you have to back it up with. The readers here are well equip to disseminate what is fact and what is fiction, what is making sense and what is nonsensical in terms of arguments for and arguments against the perceived allegations, because it is a perceived allegations at this point.
What you did is no different than Wade Mark and you to a certain point, advanced it to a pitiful level. You got caught up in a personality contest as against being in a world of facts and issues.
Check yourself.

Sirfrog, I would agree with your comment if this was the first time such an occurrence occurred. This style adopted by Senator Wade Mark in my opinion is non progressive and waste of time.
I agree that my statement is more an allegation than stating the fact and I stand to be corrected and would humbly apologize if I am wrong. However based on past allegations made by the said senator I can only presume that it is another of his void rambling.
As for being disrespectful, I would like to counter by saying that I believe in the first instance, the senator is constantly playing the citizens and the parliament as fools by his statements. This particular senator has been making similar accusations in the past indicating that he has the proof and when ask to deliver he never does.
Regarding the name calling, he soiled the name of an individual by making the claim. The hurtful part is that nothing can be done about it because he has the cover of Parliament. If this was turned on him by a person outside the parliament we will sure hear about litigation. By his unsubstantiated action he could cost a person their career. I believe that public officials need to be more responsible about their uttering.
I do apologize if I offended anyone. I am not a person who dabbles into politics but I love to read the news and on many occasions I read about his accusations and await his proof; however he never even delivered on one occasion.

Denzil, you’re giving Senator Mark too much power, ” By his unsubstantiated action he could cost a person their career ” Really? All we heard was blah, blah, blah and more fricking blah.

Sadly, there are people out there who will believe a crap statement like that….and surely it did top the list of crap statements. The construction industry is under the eyes of transparency, and here it is a chance for the opposition to apply some pressure to help things improve, but instead produces a widely published allegation of a video tape of a bribe. Fine, but receiving a 27 million CASH payout???. You don’t really laude stupidity, but Wade took it to a different level (beneath). Wade wanted to get back in the limelight, so he decided to produce one of his unfounded “truths”.

Denzil thanks for the feedback on my earlier post, and i guess this shows that you are open to criticism. I must stress that the position you hold on this web site (Point Alive) is a great one. You should not be that bias in your Blog/Rants. There should be a measure of balance from you on issues, facts, opinions, and to a certain point conclusions.
Too many Blog/Rant masters are not focusing on the current issue/s in T&T, and are not even trying to make sense of it. They all seem to be placing emphasis on the Personalities in question and falling short on analysing the data before them, creating the pros vs the cons, the social impact it has on the society, and who are the beneficiaries vs those who stand to loose.
Name calling is a key component in the personality psychological war/battle and this is very common in politics and politicians by extension. It is also a tool and a concept designed to distract the uninformed, the uneducated, and those in the unknown. Some people refer to them as grass roots, but it think it is all who are in the unknown.
So you see when you started off by labeling of Mr. Wade Mark, you dismissed everything (facts and views) you had put forward. You moved the focus away from the real issue at hand. You are also conditioning your web followers to dislike people you do not like or think highly of, thus breeding a group of haters at the end.
So who wins Denzil??

Error in my name
It’s still Sirfrog
Sorry about that

Thank you Bonnie for you comment. Citizens are having serious concern regarding the company spoken about and here we have a lawmaker with only blah, blah and more fricking blah according to June.
Sirfrog, criticism can be used to foster growth in another. Its never my style on the website to culture thoughts but my “rant” was generated out of being totally fedup with the senator and by extension the general attitude of politicians in this country.
The harsh headline used was intentional after much thought. I don’t want to continue the blah myself, but one of the reasons I believe that the average Trinbagonian doesn’t have any interest in what happens at the level of governance is because some of us believe that its just a bunch of jokers having fun and nothing serious happens. Once the ruling party lays a bill all the govt members vote for it and all the opposition against and vice versa.
The issue is more that the Town Tlown Wade Mark but he always take it to a higher level of dotishness……. sorry sirfrog I couldn’t help it.

Empty barrels make the most noise and it appears that Senator Wade is in that company. I have followed his troubled career for some time now and have come to the conclusion that all he does is make an attempt to show that since he represents the opposition, it is his duty to oppose every thing regardless. This is one of the flaws of the Westminister Model that we have adapted at the signing of our independence.

Finally someone in Trinidad is begining to see the light. In my comment in the T/E on this topic I wrote that if this PINHEAD had any evidence to suuport his frivolous allegations he would not have made that statement, the tape would be made public.
Here it is on taxpayer’s dime “EVERY LAST ONE OF THEM” are just wasting time, plain ole political gesturing. Citizens need to wake up. It is my opinion that noone gives a good foot about the public, homicide has skyrocketed, parts of the island is under water, not to mention dengue fever. The only time we will move forward is when we the people stop voting party line and vote for our best interest. Send the message. How much more are we going to take.
P.S. When I did the conversion on the gas, you guys are paying about $2.52 a gallon(premium) in comparison to $3.98 a gallon.

Good Lord, but the man is indeed a major JACKASS!! This has nothing to do with personalities, Sirfrog. It has to do with the fact that Wadee has been since I can remember, the fly buzzing on a humid, windless day when you are baking in the sweltering heat and would love nothing else than a cold bath and an even colder drink!!! Sirfrog, are you living here?? Cause i wondering if you really listen to this man all the time. Oh Lord, spare us!!! I think that he is there in the opposition to do just that - oppose! Nobody voted him in, remember. He is the ‘fly in the hot sun’ in parliament as far as i am concerned. His job is to distract from the REAL issues at hand. He actually works FOR the government whereby he draws attention away from what should really be our issues of contention. Just imagine! TT$27 mil…..cash!! (At least is not TT$27 mil in Guyanese cash!!!). Denzil i understand very well where you are coming from. I agree.

Paying Taxes if i adopt your views and many others here, i guess it will be fitting for me to say, do you know what you are paying taxes for, seeing that you sound like a dumb-ass here??
Did you not find that i moved away from the issue on hand and came directly at you??
Do you now see my point. There was no need for me to turn my attention to you personally, but to just focused on the issue/s at hand.
This is what many of you all get caught up in and fail to see and understand the real issues at hand.
Open your eyes to the true content or facts of an issue and forget about the personal attributes of the messenger
