FINALLY --- BUNJI & FAY ANN WEDS

It was billed as the most anticipated wedding of the year and now maybe listed as the like event of the decade.  The wedding ceremony of Ian Alvarez aka “Bunji Garlin” and Fay Ann Lyons, two mega Soca Stars, took place at the Holiness Revival Ministries Church in Port of Spain on December 23^rd 2k6.  

Though beginning a bit late, guests were never daunted since excitement was abuzz throughout.  Those belonging to the “paparazzi” were in full flight with photographers literally climbing upon other photographers just to get their photos. 

Before the ceremony the official and lead photographers were identified the lineup, however, the secondary and non-invited were most prominent.  Nevertheless, the ceremony went ahead with father of the bride, Austin Lyons (Superblue aka Blue-Boy) escorting his daughter to the alter.  The officiating minister conducted a straightforward ceremony to the delight of the 26 member bridal party who remained standing throughout, and all those who attended.

Upon leaving the church, the couple made their way along a prepared Red Carpet towards their waiting limousine.

At the reception which was held at the Centre of Excellence in Macoya, the father of the groom stole the show with a very humorous speech, enjoyed by all.  This prompted Master of Ceremony Jason Williams to jokingly acknowledge that “he now understands where ‘Bunji’got his lyrical ability”.  Maximus Dan also spoke, Fay Ann’s grand mother sang and Dane Gulston rendered an instrumental selection on the Steel Pan. 

Most of the guests we spoke with said that the really enjoyed the evening and was confident that the couple will ride through any rough times ahead.  The catering was complimented by many including Iwer George and new rising soca star Fireball who hinted to pointalive.com that he was going for seconds.

After the dining segment, tables and chairs were removed to make way for dancing.

Fay Ann received praises from the Master of Ceremony and her husband for her role in setting the interior design for the reception venue.

Shurwayne Winchester, Nicky Crosby, Destra Garcia, Lisa Wickham and Singing Sandra were just a few of the notable attendees for the event.
